Colombia has more than 85 autochthonous musical rhythms [see Dance]. Due to its diverse influences, Colombia hosts a great variety of rhythms that fuse indigenous, Spanish and African traditions. Vallenato is one of the most representative musical genres of the country born from a symbiosis between slaves, troubadours, percussion, guacharacas and accordions. Another example of music born in Colombia’s Caribbean coast is the Champeta, a popular rhythm that became a social phenomenon.
In 2012, UNESCO declared marimba music and traditional chants from the Colombian South Pacific as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the World.
Colombia also has great musicians and performers of rhythms like salsa and pop.
Our country accounts for more than 85 autochthonous folklore rhythms, each with a characteristic dance. The mix between the Spanish, indigenous and African influences, and their derived instruments (strings, winds and percussions) were the roots for the birth of such diverse dances as bambuco, currulao, joropo, sanjuanero, champeta and cumbia.

Colombia Country Brand is a strategy designed by the Government that strives to position the country with a positive image towards the world.
The variety of colors represent the mega-diversity Colombia has. The geometric figures represent the geographical regions of the country.
Each color means:
Colombia Country Brand is a Governmental Entity that dedicates itself to promote the nation’s brand since September 2011. “Colombia is passion” was the first phase of a strategy that pretends to promote Colombia internationally.
This is a campaign focused on internationalizing Colombia and promoting it abroad. The campaign is not focused on a specific component, but it actually shows every aspect of this country. It highlights all of our strengths in terms of culture, biodiversity, tourism and foreign investment, among others.
Yes. Since 2014 we are part of Procolombia to enforce the positive image of Colombia around the world.
These are graphic expressions of the brand that highlight a specific topic or fact. As an example, we can see that the logo variations that contain a toucan or a parrot are based on the fact that we have great biodiversity in birds, reinforcing the message that the Brand wants to show the world.
It is a Governmental Entity with mixed economy.
Colombia’s brand is free and can be used by everybody.
Almost every country is being branded in order to bring more business and tourism opportunities. This is often done with Territorial Marketing, a tool that enhances competitiveness.
You can participate in our social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google+; generating and publishing positive news or information about Colombia, sharing and posting comments in our section; but mostly, by wanting to build a country that brings answers to the world.
Every company that is registered as the law suggests can become an ally by getting in contact through marcapais@procolombia.co
We, as Marca País Colombia, manage the positive image we have to show. Our goal is to close the gap between the negative perceptions that the world has about Colombia and the realities of the country, its progress, talent, and potential.
Our roots are a unique combination of customs, accents, people, rhythms and a lot of culture that highlight the charm of an entire country.
