Extreme Adventure and Historical Legacy
The music of this region reflects its multicultural roots, from the traditional guabina, one of the most popular rhythms in the area; the bambuco, whose origins may be Indigenous, Spanish, or African; to the pasillo, which has a strong European influence due to the waltz.
Being so musical, the region has earned the nickname "land of festivities and folklore." Only here can you experience annual celebrations such as the Festival del Río Suárez in Barbosa, the Fiestas de la Cordialidad and Retorno in Zapatoca, the Day of Santanderean Identity, Feria Bonita, Livestock Fair, the Fiesta del Tiple y el Bocadillo, the Stone Carving Festival in Barichara, the String Music Festival, and the "Guane de Oro" Music Contest.
