Santa Marta
The Pearl of America rests beside the splendid Caribbean Sea, which, under the sunlight, resembles a tapestry of multiple shades of blue. Founded in 1525 by Rodrigo de Bastidas, the city is one of the main commercial and tourist hubs of the department, thanks to its strategic location near the beautiful Rodadero Bay, the Sierra Nevada, Ciudad Perdida, and other points of interest. It also features places rich in history, such as Quinta de Bolívar, the last residence of the Liberator. The city overflows with life, history, and tradition.
Beyond tourism, the city is known for its bustling commercial activity. Among its lively and beautiful streets lie multiple markets that regularly supply the port, along with the gifts of the Magdalena's land. Whether bananas, coffee, cocoa, or other fruits, the locals of Santa Marta enjoy the bountiful produce provided by the lush nature surrounding them.
