The Bogotá International Book Fair is the perfect setting to discover the literary talent of the country of beauty. With Spain as the guest of honor, this edition will explore, through various activities, how literature, science, and art address the body as a symbol of identity, culture, and resistance. This year, the fair will also be a meeting point with some of the most representative voices of Colombian literature. Below, we invite you to learn about some of the national authors who will be present at this edition.
Darío Jaramillo Agudelo is a Colombian poet and writer considered one of the best poets of the second half of the 20th century and the main innovator of love poetry. Alongside his writing career, Darío led the Cultural Sub-Management of the Banco de la República, during which he directed the Cultural and Bibliographic Bulletin of the Luis Ángel Arango Library. He also strengthened the National Library Network and managed the collections of the Museo de Oro and the Miguel Urrutia Art Museum, which are today two of the most representative heritage exhibitions in the country.
He began his career writing ironic and intellectual poetry, and over the years, his prose evolved into intimate poetry, completely stripped of metaphors. He is the author of several novels, including La muerte de Alec (1983), Antología de la poesía amorosa y erótica de Colombia (1985), Cartas cruzadas (1994), Memorias de un hombre feliz (2000), El juego del alfiler (2002), Novela con fantasma (2004), La voz interior (2006), Historia de una pasión (2006), among many others. He will be one of the guests at FILBo 2025, where he will share his experience, literary legacy, and some of his latest reflections on writing and culture in Colombia.
Laura Restrepo González is one of the most awarded and translated Colombian writers in the world. Restrepo dedicated some years to journalism. In the 1980s, she began working at Semana magazine, starting as a book commentator and later covering culture and national politics. She also contributed to Cromos magazine and worked as a columnist in Mexico for the newspaper La Jornada and the magazine Proceso. Certain artistic and stylistic decisions that the writer credits to journalism have influenced her works and literary talent.
Some of the author’s most notable works include Leopardo al Sol (1993), La multitud errante (2001), Demasiados héroes (2009), and Hot sur (2012). Delirio (2004) is one of Restrepo’s pinnacle novels, earning her the Alfaguara Novel Prize, which propelled her to become one of the most widely read and translated Colombian authors internationally. At FILBo 2025, she will be one of the most anticipated voices, sharing her career, critical perspective, and deep commitment to literature as a form of resistance and memory.

Luis Fayad is a renowned Colombian author who studied Sociology at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and has worked as a scriptwriter for radio and television. His journalistic work has led him to live in various European cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Stockholm, and Berlin, where he has worked as a translator and journalist, combining these activities with his literary vocation. His work, consisting of novels and short stories, reflects the nuances of Colombian culture. Through his texts, Fayad explores the perspectives of different generations, emotional bonds, and urban transformations from an interdisciplinary perspective.
Among his works are notable titles of Colombian literature such as Los parientes de Ester (1978), Compañeros de viaje (1991), La caída de los puntos cardinales (2000), Testamento de un hombre de negocios (2004), Los sonidos del fuego (1968), Olor de lluvia (1974), Una lección de la vida (1984), Cuentos reunidos (2008), among others. He has also developed several cultural projects with German universities and will be at the International Book Fair, presenting his vision of literature, the city, and the craft of storytelling from the experience of a Colombian writer with an international career.
From the corners of Colombia to Brazil, Venezuela, and Russia, the Colombian author has woven her life among stories and words. With an extensive career in children’s and young adult literature, she has published numerous books embraced by prominent publishers, establishing herself as one of the most recognized authors in the genre in Colombia. Her work has not only achieved significant sales but has also crossed borders: some of her titles have been translated into English and Spanish, and others are distributed in neighboring countries.
She has published several children’s books in the publishing industry, including Beatriz la lombriz y el Ciempiés Andrés, Raimundo Susaeta Award (1989); Conjuros y sortilegios, Fundalectura Best Children’s and Young Adult Book Award (1991). She will be at FILBo, sharing her experience as a writer, discussing the transformative power of children’s literature, and presenting her latest publications, which continue to captivate readers of all ages.
