The Group of Like-Minded Megadiverse Countries was established to promote the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity.
Colombia, one of the megadiverse countries full of surprises
Eight American nations, five Asian, and four African countries make up the group, which hosts around 70% of the world’s biodiversity.
Most megadiverse countries are located in the tropics, which is why they have a high richness in fauna and flora , ecosystems, and habitats.
Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, China, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Kenya, Madagascar, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Africa are the 17 countries that make up the group of megadiverse countries.
The Group jointly participates in international forums and has set its objectives according to Agenda 21, the United Nations Millennium Declaration, and the agreement adopted during the World Summit on Sustainable Development.
