World Capital of Vallenato
The city is located in a valley that was part of the domains of the famous cacique of Upar, an iconic character of indigenous history, hence the name Valledupar. It is one of Colombia's main agro-industrial and mining centers.
Valledupar is also known for being the cradle of vallenato, a musical genre to which the performers of the Greater Colombian Caribbean deliver their best chords to the delight of the whole world.
