Capital of Porro and Savanna Epicenter
Sincelejo, the capital of the department, is said to be named after Cacique Cincel, one of the indigenous leaders of the area before the colonial period.
Today, The Queen and Lady of the Savanna is the main cultural and commercial center of the region, while also serving as a hub for much of the department's livestock and agricultural activities.
Immortalized by its corralejas and musical rhythms, Sincelejo sings to Colombia some of its finest melodies.
