Rivers attract tourism and serve as the primary means of transportation and sustenance for many of their inhabitants. On the banks of the Inírida River stand the hills of Mavecure, a set of three massive rocks: Pajarito, Mono, and Mavicure, home to the Puinave indigenous community. Their significance is such that they are represented on the department's coat of arms, and their imposing landscape has become a true symbol of the region.
