Capital of Rain and Afro-Colombian Folklore
Initially founded under the name "Citará," Quibdó is a paradise of life and the cradle of Colombian biodiversity. Its streets resonate with the joy of living on the banks of one of Colombia's most treasured rivers: the Atrato.
The people of Quibdó know how to sing and celebrate life, as their land echoes some of the most beautiful musical sounds of Colombia, such as currulao, abozao, and polka.

Quibdó is home to one of those celebrations that is truly worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime: the San Francisco de Asís festival, or the “San Pacho” festival, which was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2012.
This festivity brings together the best of Chocó’s culinary, musical, and cultural traditions. Through dances and theatrical performances, the city commemorates its Afro-American heritage and Hispanic colonial past.
